ABOUT US

Jerome and Summey was founded in 1934 by P. Jerry Jerome and his sister-in-law, Rowena Summey. As a business man, Mr. Jerome saw the need for a local insurance agency to provide coverage for the many homes being built in Brevard and was located at 6 Caldwell Street.

In 1959, the growing agency moved to larger quarters in what was then the Brevard Savings and at 132 South Caldwell Street. In 1971, the Agency was purchased by Jerry Hart Jerome and Carlene Jerome. For continuity, they retained the Summey name. In 1980 the agency moved into a newly-constructed addition at the same address, where it is today.

In 1997, the firm was purchased by Phillip and after the death of Jerry Hart Jerome. Today, the firm remains community-oriented and continues to grow in Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina and Georgia.

J. Phillip Jerome - Principal and President of Jerome and Summey Insurance Agency. Phillip has a B.S. degree from Appalachian State University, is a graduate of the Southeastern Insurance Institute and a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He is a licensed agent, also broker, and has been with Jerome and Summey since 1982.

Patti Jerome - Principal and Officer in Charge of Accounting Department. Patti has a B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee. She is a licensed agent and has been with Jerome and Summey since 1985.

Carlene Jerome - Prior Principal of Jerome and Summey and Agent. She has been with the agency since graduating from Brevard College. Carlene is a licensed agent and she assist with Bond needs and claims.

Joan Waters - Office Manager, SC Broker and Licensed Agent. She has over 35 years experience in insurance sales and claims adjusting. Joan writes insurance in both North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. She specializes in Personal Lines, Bonds and has experience also in Commercial Lines. Joan joined Jerome and Summey in 1993.

Mike Moser - Life and Health Licensed Agent. Mike has been active in this field of insurance for over 15 years. He joined Jerome and Summey in 2000.

Stephanie Hinson - North Carolina Licensed Agent. Stephanie has earned the designation of Certified Insurance Service Representative and is an agent in Personal Lines. She joined Jerome and Summey in 2003.

Sharon Salter - North Carolina Licensed Agent. Sharon is a licensed agent in Personal Lines. She joined Jerome and Summey in 2005.

Marianne Stepp - North Carolina Licensed Agent. Marianne has earned the designation of Certified Insurance Service Representative and is working on CIC. She works as a Commercial Lines Agent. She joined Jerome and Summey in 2007.
